Show Profile: The Art Of Rap

Impact was approached by our long time client Live Nation Bay Area to provide a unique lighting design for their upcoming Art of Rap festival. The lighting design not only had to be visually interesting and inspiring, but it also had to be functional for lighting the stage.  Above all when designing a festival the lighting has to be flexible to accommodate the needs of all of the acts.   Impact developed a versatile intelligent lighting rig by designing a series of trusses in a unique configuration.  With this we had the starting point to an interesting design.  Next, utilizing Impact’s in house inventory of Chauvet Nexus 4×4 LED panels, Martin Mac Viper fixtures and Clay Paky Sharpy fixtures Impact determined fixture placement in a manner that gave the lighting a compelling look.    Finally to ensure a smooth load in as well as show a visual to the client, Impact’s design team produced a series of renderings.  These renderings allowed Impact to carefully evaluate the design and work out the details far before the load in day. And when the show day finally did roll around the carefully designed lighting proved to be a pivotal element of a successful show!  Thanks to Live Nation Bay Area!

Show Profile: ISES – NCC Gala 2015

Aug 11, 2015 | Posted by Editor Impact

Recently Impact provided lighting for the International Special Events Society – Northern California Chapter (ISES-NCC) at their annual gala.  This year’s gala was held in the stunning Herbst Pavilion at the Fort Mason Center.  The membership of ISES consists of event production professionals covering almost every discipline from entertainment coordinators to florists, producers to audio visual companies and every profession in between.  Impact was privileged to showcase their lighting expertise for the “who’s who” of Bay Area event professionals.  Impact was only responsible for lighting in the after-dinner section of the event.  Impact’s area is where the attendees came to show their moves on the dance floor after they had enjoyed a lovely meal provided by a number of the areas caterers.

The Herbst Pavilion presents an interesting challenge that is unique to few event spaces in the area.  It’s a blank canvas ready for whatever treatment an event desires but because of its large size and few built in amenities it can present a huge challenge to any event.  Impact, while working with the other design partners, provided a unique environment for the ISES attendees in the after dinner area.  We partnered with Songa LED Floors who provided a 20’x20′ LED dance floor that provided an inspiring visual centerpiece for the room. Impact provided a plethora of moving and intelligent lighting to create a dynamic look that was ever changing throughout the evening.  This allowed for the entire room have a different feeling that constantly changed to match the music.  It was a smashing success and wowed all of the attendees including representatives from Impact.  We look forward to continuing to provide inspiring lighting to a wide variety of events.

Show Profile: Rustic Chic Wedding

Jul 28, 2015 | Posted by Editor Impact

How do you bring elegance to a rustic ranch wedding? Oh, also, can you make chandeliers float in the air?

Jamie Chang of Mango Muse Events has relied on Impact for creative lighting solutions for her destination weddings in Sonoma and Napa counties. Most recently Jamie came up with a concept that really pushed the Impact team to design something new.

Dinner for the Calistoga Ranch wedding would be early enough in the day that lighting wouldn’t be necessary till sunset. The idea of hanging chandeliers amidst string lights came up…along with the question: I was just curious if something like this could be achieved?
The narrow Lommel Lawn at Calistoga Ranch has a lake on one side and a steep drop-off into the valley on the other. With nothing but the clear blue sky above hanging chandeliers seemed almost impossible.
he end result? A magical evening resplendent with orchids, bunnies and rustic chic.

Rustic Meets High Class

Calistoga Ranch serves a lovely backdrop for a high class meets rustic wedding.
